'Think about’s' from text book p. 56.

  • Why is God’s existence incompatible with Berkeley’s principle that esse est percipi? ("To be is to be perceived").
  • Can the principle be rescued if there is no god to guarantee it?

  • The similarity sometimes found between realist and idealist epistemologies, despite there fundamental ontological differences, has led to much debate in philosophical circles about whether epistemology or ontology is the more primary or important area for investigation. What do you think and why do you think it?
